I know most people do reviews as soon as an issue comes out but I am just not that dedicated. I rarely get my new comics the day they come out. Also, not much of a review as a synopsis and to figure out anything LSH related. This may contain spoilers however I hope most people have read by now.
This issue starts with another appearance by Firestorm reflecting while the battle between War Cry and Deep Dweller starts up. The battle goes rather quickly, with War Cry apparently killing Deep Dweller by exploding her head with sound. These two want to be on the same side but circumstance has made them combatants.
Meanwhile, Inceptor of the Vrang goes up against a Bismollian! Yet another Legion race making an appearance. This character is called Supermaw. No real background is given for him but he has tiny mouths in the palms of his hands. Inceptor finally wins against his opponent with a Mnemonic grief bullet, obviously pulling out a prior memory of someone dying. However, this isn't the only memory he gets as he gets a glimpse of a prior winged champion being eaten. Based on the hair, I definitely think that he was a resident of Starhaven. Inceptor is deeply disturbed by the idea of an unknown Lord Preceptor and realizes he must bring this info to the others.
Next, we find cover model Serene in battle with long-standing champion Orthus. She rips his neck out with her teeth, winning.
Next we find War Cry being greeted by Deep Dweller and she reveals that he doesn't know enough about octopuses to kill her. They lament the predicament of planet Earth. Serene enters the conversation and makes a pass at War Cry.
Inceptor tracks down Dominator and relates the memories he just discovered. They share moments about their people and Inceptor extends friendship to Dominator. They meet up with Serene, War Cry and Deep Dweller and together they decide to investigate Inceptor's memory recoil. War Cry uses his powers to help keep them silent by drawing away their sound. That application of his powers kinda reminds me of Stealth from LEGION. Inceptor incapacitates a guard. He really is coming into his powers. I really like how the 5 come together in teamwork also. Dominator disintegrates a wall. Serene climbs an interior wall with Deep Dweller holding on to her and the other 3. War Cry hears some muffled talking but he draws it out and amplifies it for the rest of them to listen. What they hear is bidding for the fallen Champion Orthus. We readers see they are in the process of dissecting him, much like the winged warrior we saw earlier.
Now these scene of eating the champions does make me a bit uncomfortable, but it leads the Warriors to the conclusion they they are merely cattle to be bought and sold.
Orlando really has upped the drama in this issue. Things are severely wrong for our heroes. I wonder where this will lead? Are the 5 of them powerful enough to bring everything crashing down. And what about Firestorm? If he is behind all of this, can they take him down too?
